Question by El Director: How do I get the URL of another frame in Javascript?
I have a header frame. I want a button to remove it onClick. But it needs to be automated, since the header is on all the framesets that call an external site in the lower (“content”) frame.

I tried:

top.document.location.href = top.frames['content'].location;
top.document.location.href = top.content.location;
top.document.location.href = top.frames['content'].location.href;

and other variations. The “top.document.location.href =” is right. It lets me set whatever follows the = as the _top url. I want to be able to take the location of the bottom frame (“content”) and set it to top.document.location.href, but I can’t find out how to read the location of the bottom frame. What’s the code?
So, a frame can’t tell the url of another frame if its an external site?

I think you are hitting the security mechanism of a web browser, regarding cross site scripting.
You cannot touch anything of another website (website from another domain) through scripting.
Sorry.

(In some browsers, it is possible, but should not be.)
